A series of Fortunate Events

So I met this girl.. yeah I know, for some of you long time readers, you may be shocked. I remember the first day I met her. It was at the ACTS Gala on October 27th, 2024. Suffice to say, I’m not a GG (Gala Guy) and have never been to one of these events but I figured why not. I find my table in the back. As I approach my table, I recognize that I am not seated with any other young adults, or so I thought. I grab my seat which is smack dab in the middle so I am not seated next to anyone on either side. In front of me is an older married couple, to the right is a younger married couple (maybe mid 40’s), and then to the left of me is another couple with Abouna and then this girl.

I don’t believe in coincidences but that’s a story for another time.

Anyway, I’m chatting with the people next to me and begin talking to her. We have a few things in common and the conversation just seemed to flow so naturally. She was beautiful of course but what captivated me even more was the beauty of her spirit. She was a calm soul but also was into “things” – which I would later come to find out even more.

Now if you know me, I’m not really the type to just go and ask for a girl’s number. But there was something that was nudging me. Unfortunately, this nudge came after the Gala had ended and I didn’t ask for her number. Driving home, with that unshaken feeling of defeat, I search her up on Instagram (yeah, I know, I know) and voila, I found her! The hit of dopamine rushed as I hit the follow button and began thinking of what to say. Palms sweating, I type the blandest message ever, hit send and go to sleep, hoping for an encounter…
