The Way

The Way

Christ is risen.

Life can be hard.

Having a sense of direction in life is perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of life itself. What do I study, where do I work, who do I marry (or for that matter, should I even get married). But perhaps we make it that way because we approach it with a temporal mind, a mind fixated on what we see, and rather one that is not lead by the Spirit. I heard someone say we get bouts of depression when we are reminded of certain things in the past and anxiety comes from the unknown of the future. But our future is known. Our path is known. Our path is the path of the Cross. Early century Christians were beautifully referred to as the followers of The Way. Christ shows us the Way which is Himself. He demonstrates to us the Way to Salvation which is Himself of the Cross.

I’ve struggled with this a lot, often wavering between which path God wants me to take. But perhaps I am over complicating things. Actually, I probably am over complicating things. The way is simple yet difficult. It is the Way of the Cross. Our Lord gives us freedom in life to choose how to bear the Cross however as His children, we are all called to live the life of the Cross. The life of the Cross is The Way. Our Lord showed us the way on Golgotha, confirmed in His resurrection and Ascension.

I pray that the Lord guides me and all of you to the way of the Cross, following right behind him. We aren’t here for very long so let the focus be rather not on the perilous ways of this world, but rather The Way that leads to eternal life.

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
